The Montrose Veterinary Clinic has been serving all of Houston's Inner Loop veterinary care demands since 1979. Patrick Ross Davidson, DVM, started this clinic in a small building that once resided in our current parking lot. Our new building was built in 1988 and in 1989 won the prestigious Hospital Design of the Year award from Veterinary Economics Magazine.

Valerie B. McDaniel, DVM, now owns the practice and is continually working to keep MVC above standard. In 1991 our practice earned the highest rating awarded by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), which is a four-year inspection schedule. Our most current inspection occurred during the summer of 2002. We were rated outstanding in all categories.

The Montrose Veterinary Clinic has a full service radiology and ultrasound imaging suite. Being able to take and develop our own x-rays clearly adds diagnostic capability for our staff. Daily we find things such as broken bones, foreign bodies, and osteo-arthritic conditions. X-rays can also give Mom or Dad the exact number of puppy or kittens to prepare for.

Ultrasound technology is a diagnostic tool that helps our staff in numerous ways every day. Most commonly it is used to locate a bladder to collect a urine sample. This helps to avoid a hospital stay for our patients. It is also used to do more complicated procedures such as finding imperfections in kidney structure or simply to tell us if your cat or dog will be a mother soon. All of our sample images are available for Telemedicine. Telemedicine allows us to scan images such as x-rays and microscopic images to send online to board certified specialists. Many times we have a diagnosis and treatment options within the hour.

Endoscopy is a very innovative tool we use as needed. Going in through the mouth armed with a small flexible camera lens to look for that missing shoelace or toy mouse is much easier than any surgical option available. We also use this technology to perform more advanced procedures, such as intestinal biopsies, without having to perform major abdominal surgery.

Surgery at MVC is of the highest and safest standards. A veterinarian examines all patients before surgery and diagnostic blood work is required for all patients. The degree of required blood work is determined by age. Most blood work is done in-house on our state-of-the-art blood analyzers. Neuters, spays and dental procedures take place daily.

Our staff doctors are skilled surgeons and do perform advanced surgical procedures. We have a long tradition of serving all pet needs including bathing and grooming, nail trims, and boarding. This is all made easier for pet owners by providing convenient drop off and pick up hours.
